Kazumi Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Skellenger Vineyard, Oakville ~ Napa Valley

The 2017 vintage will be one to be remembered. Harvest was supposed to take place on October 9th but due to the devastating wildfires that struck wine country on the night of October 8th, harvest was delayed until October 14th. Luckily, the grapes were not dam-aged or tainted by the fires and everyone in the Kazumi Wines family was safe and sound. Even though the wildfires continued burning for 3 weeks, the winery had elec-tricity and we were able to make another stellar Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the nose this wine showcases aromas of black cherry, strawberry, blueberry and plum as well as floral notes of rose. Digging deeper, one discovers scents of spice, cloves, coffee and vanilla. The wine enters the palate with plush fruits of cherry, black-berry and plum. Followed by layers of baking spices, chocolate, tea, black pepper and savory dried herbs. This wine has a fuller body than the 2016 vintage with velvety tan-nins. All the layers adds to the complexity of this wine for a long finish.
